What’ll You Have?

The Complexity

Pabst had over thirty beer brands and needed a partner who could work nimbly from the inside without the layers that slow most agencies down.

The Idea

We worked as an agency team of four embedded within the Pabst internal team. From quick illustration tasks to full-scale branding for new acquisitions, we gave them the agility to effortlessly manage and scale creative across more than 30 brands.

While we worked across branding, packaging, web, social, demand generation, and content creation across the portfolio, a significant part of the work was rebuilding the outdated digital infrastructure that had accumulated across it, modernizing the websites and martech stack.

The portfolio included some of America’s most recognized beer brands. PBR, Schlitz, Old Milwaukee, Lone Star, Rainier, Stroh’s, Old Style, National Bohemian, Primo, and more. Each brand carried its own regional identity, its own loyal audience, and its own reason to exist in a market that had moved far past the era these brands were born in. Working hand-in-hand with their team, we helped connect each brand to the modern consumer.

We created the website and launch content for a brewery reopening in Milwaukee, housed in a 144-year-old building at the heart of the original Pabst complex that Frederick Pabst himself purchased in 1896. The space, which served as a Ratskeller for employees through the 1970s, was reimagined as an innovation hub for the next generation of Pabst beers.

The Outcome

During our time working together, Pabst became one of the fastest growing domestic beers in America, with Americans drinking nearly 200% more of it than they had a decade earlier.
